Split construction fore-stock. Only guns for exquisite tastes have this unusual feature. While the top part of the fore-end (left and right ledges) are screwed to the barrel, the bottom take-down part is detachable. This arrangement has the advantage that the hand always grasps the tightly secured ledges when breaking the gun so that the takedown part is subjected to virtually no force and, consequently, always fits intimately. It also prevents the appearance of bright rubbing marks on the blued barrel due to the take-down part being removed and replaced. Another benefit of this split construction is that the fore-end can be made very slim and graceful so that it lies easily in the hand.
